[Forums] A "solved" checkbox

When a forum topic has had a response, it rapidly gets lost, whether the response is satisfactory to the initial poster or not, especially in the ginormous "post installation" forums. This leads to the urge to "bump" things.

This would also allow those who try to help out know which issues are still waiting.

Search: Add "filter by Drupal version" for forums and docs

When you search for advice would be useful to filter only those docs and forum discussions pertaining to your version of Drupal.

Edit: note that you can already tag by version when creating a forum topic (don't know about creating docs), but I don't see any way of filtering search results by version. This would be of most benefit in searching documentation.

(thanks poster below! Hope it makes sense now)

Add the dopl module to Drupal.org

See a video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=xx1-sPE8d1s How many times have you typed the whole module, copy and paste a link to that module to link to a project in the Drupal forums or the handbook? It's a real PITA to go type all that html everytime, right? Wouldn't it be awesome if you could just write the module name your editor would automatically find the correct module title, the right ...more »

Add a Twitter, Facebook, IM, etc on Profiles for Friend requests

On Drupal.org, I have a profile? yes but can you add me as a friend or talk to me? There should be a way to communicate with people on Drupal.org as friends does normally with at least links to there profiles on twitter etc...but not in forums. There should also be a way to search people by gender, tags, etc... Point is, more we are active on Drupal.org, more we will be fixing it and reporting problems. And I do wish ...more »

[Forums] More forum categories

Most questions I have dont seem to fit into any of the current categories so they get lumped into the "post installation" or the "general discussions" forums. Right now the "post installation" forum has 513829 posts, likely more than all the others combined. It seems that splitting it into different topics would allow easier discovery by searchers, and probably allow the rest of us to find a niche to contribute, as (unofficial) ...more »

Update Drupal Forum

I personally think that the forum on Drupal.org needs to be updated using a modern software like phpBB or vBulletin. If we updated the forums, then people could gain support, advice, tips, and knowledge of Drupal by actively talking to its community in a better organized and controlled environment than the one they are presented with today.
